[the ARCH way] The Art of Leadership

Archith Seshadri

My definition of success is your ability to learn from your past, live in the present and create the future you are destined for. Live life on your terms and design the life you want for yourself. Try to read 1 article or 10 pages every single day to inspire you, to motivate you and set you up for success. But at the end of it all, the best teacher is the experiences you make in this game called LIFE!

Here are a some of the latest and greatest tips, resources, and reads.
So much goodness all in one place!

PRO TIP: Personality Test

From Myers Briggs to True Colors, there are many personality tests that define your traits. It’s important to know who you are, who you want to become, and how others perceive you. You have to think of yourself as your own CEO and run your day-to-day operations to align with your purpose. But in order to do that, you have to first know who you are, what your goals are, what your brand is and what is your purpose (what makes you get out of bed).

DISCOVERY: Here are 10 self-discovery tips to map out your life and get what you want!

1. LEAD –  what type of a leader are you? how do you manage others?

2. PLAN – how do you get things done? how do you set goals and priorities?

3. COMMUNICATE – how do you communicate with others? what is your style?

4. BRAND – how you define yourself? how do others see you?

5. MARKET – how do you promote your self? how do you share your story?

6. NETWORK – how do you connect with others? what is your elevator pitch?

7. NEGOTIATE – how do you get what you want? how do you measure your worth?

8. MENTOR – how do you help others? who are your role models?

9. KNOWLEDGE – how do you learn more? what are your areas of expertise?

10. SERVICE – how do you give back to others? What causes are close to your heart?

“When we lead with love we strive to be better!”

WORK LIFE BALANCE

Here are 5 ways to achieve work-life balance!

  1. CREATE (create to do lists, schedule appointments)
  2. ELIMINATE (remove junk, messy spaces, unwanted emails)
  3. AUTOMATE (accelerate routine tasks through autopilot or schedule reminders)
  4. DELEGATE (assign other people tasks to divide the work load)
  5. CELEBRATE (note your wins for the day and week)

PRO TIP: Companies conduct a ‘SWOT’ analysis every six months: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats. You should always look at yourself as the CEO of your own company. Divide a piece of paper into 4 quadrants or columns and write down your strengths (what you do well, your skills, unique talents), your weaknesses (what you lack, how you could improve), your opportunities (new training, new skills) and your threats (what your competitors have, negative qualities). Your strengths (internal)  and opportunities (external) should be helpful to making you succeed. Your weaknesses (internal) and threats (external) should make you cautious as they can be harmful.
